Old Lockport's East Avenue

This is The City.  East of Main Street, West of Washburn.  Before it was "the beat" of Johnny Miller of the New York State Electric and Gas.  But that sure is his company's building on the north side of the street.  The large vertical sign identifies the predecessor to NYSEG: the "Light Heat & Power" company.  We don't have a date on this one but you know it was...a long time ago.   I was before my time, or at least my memory.  Horses and electric trolley in a busy Lockport Central Business District!

I'm sorry I can't add much more commentary to this one.  Maybe some of you can help out.  Yes, that looks like the landmark Post Office Building, with flag, up at the far corner.  Click here to view other pictorials of great old Lockport.
